Chapter 22

“Supreme Leader 3, I repeat Supreme Leader 3, this is Jonathan speaking.” He folds his dark green tarp. His eyes have swollen through the frigid night. That’s common for elevations such as these.

He’s kept in the same spot as before, listening for any changes or rapid movements in the group. Sleep is a luxury he can no longer afford.

Binoculars press to his scarred face. Shaggy hair flicks beneath his fisherman’s beanie. He kneels wearing a leather trench coat, long sleeve turtleneck, cargo jeans, and combat boots.

“We hear you. What’s the status of your group?”

“Still here. Get to the town now and I’ll meet you there shortly after. Be ready. Hopefully this all goes smoothly.”

“Copy that Jonathan, over and out.”
